Bandar Seri Begawan - The first day of school is always an exciting experience for students especially the new ones. It is especially so for those who had advanced from primary to secondary level in the educational system. It is also a nerve-racking experience for the students as they are not familiar with teachers, the school itself and the students.
With the launch of the new educational system, SPN21, it is something even more exciting for the first batch of students who are embarking on a new era of Brunei's education. Two hundred and eighty new students who had enrolled in Year Seven in the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College found their orientation day to be a day full of challenges and activities — all of which were designed to help the students familiarise with their new environment and also to interact with other students and showcase some of their talents.
Instead of the usual briefing and touring around the college, SOAS college made orientation day to be fun for the students. The orientation programme also encouraged moral and ethical values which the students will need as they progress through their education. Activities included tug-of-war, drama, treasure hunts — all of which promote teamwork and team building for the students.
