Students moving up from primary school to secondary have to sometimes grapple with the new environment and new faces. Often, students do not know others from other classes even though they are of the same year.
Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Collage (SOAS) took the initiative to change all that by holding a transition workshop to help students overcome insecurities and adapt to the new surroundings and new friends.
Some 270 Year 7 students took part in the workshop where students were divided into groups, mixing the classes. In this way the students will not be confined to their own group of friends and their own comfort zone.
The workshop was organised by the Counselling Department of SOAS College. By breaking the comfort zone barriers, students get to be more confident as they interact with their peers in inter-personal relationships.
